Sarah & John - FOUR SEASONS HOTEL, HAMPSHIRE

“After picking our wedding date the next thing we chose was our photographer. We chose Chris for a few reasons. Chris is calm and friendly which instantly put us at ease. He understood exactly what we wanted and more importantly listened to what we didn’t want. Our small daughters also loved him so we also have some fantastic and very natural pictures of them as they were not shy in front of the camera. On the day he really felt like one of the wedding party and not just the photographer, mixing with my nearest and dearest effortlessly. Chris is fantastic with people and brings out the best in even the most camera shy people. I always think I look hideous in photos but Chris captured me as a happy bride on one of the best days of my life and I can never thank him enough for capturing all the joy and emotion of my perfect Wedding Day.Sarah & John Bastin

When Sarah and John said that they were finally going to get married, there was no doubt that this would be a special day.  Their wedding day is one that will be remembered for a very long time, but for lots of different reasons. The day started at the Basingstoke Registry Office, before moving on to the stunning Four Seasons Hampshire Hotel.

Their wedding day marked 7352 days since John popped the question – he needed to make sure that he was doing the right thing and didn’t want to be rushed.

Getting married on 1st April might not be everyone’s choice mainly because it is more commonly known as April Fool’s Day.  But for Sarah & John that was exactly why they chose that date.  The reason behind this date was because the wedding was a secret and only 8 people knew that it was happening, 2 sets of friends, Lime Jellyfish the dress maker and the head teacher where their children go to school.

For 6 months they planned the day, they had a secret message group that they used to plan every detail.  They went ‘Christmas Shopping’ in October to find her dress and pretended to look at party dresses whilst actually picking out bridesmaid dresses.  Items were purchased and kept at our house (Sarah is my wife’s best friend) and dress fittings were carried out late at night so that no one saw them go in or out. Hen & Stag Do’s were had, but were disguised as a trip for the ladies to the theatre to see Sarah’s favourite show, Wicked and a night out karting for the guys.

When it came to the day itself they didn’t tell their daughters, Edie and Nancy, until 7.45am and their reaction was priceless.  Edie had wanted her mum & dad to get married for a long and Nancy had even offered to marry Sarah herself so that they could have the same surname.

Sarah’s friends Claire and Hannah had made the wedding bouquet, bridesmaid posies and button holes the night before and had arranged for their friends at Gemini Hair Studio to come to the house, pretending that they were going out for the day and needing ‘special hair’.

The ceremony was at Basingstoke Registry Office and was beautiful and exactly what the bride and groom wanted.  Once the ink was dry on the marriage certificate they posted a cryptic message on social media stating the number the magic number 7352.  As soon as all the close family members had been told of their happy news they posted a picture on social media of them holding their certificate.  This was probably the funniest part of the day as they had lots of people questioning whether this was an April Fool’s joke or real.  Had they photo shopped their faces onto a picture or had they hired outfits for this trick… that was the question.

The reception was at The Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire – Dogmersfield and provided everything and more that they had wanted for their day.
